Wear Your Mother�??s Jewelry Day began in 2017. Barbara J. Feldman created it to honor her mother, who was born on August 8. Her mother had dementia, and over time, memories faded.
Jewelry became a powerful reminder. Each ring, bracelet, or pin helped Barbara feel close to her mom, even when words no longer worked.
She wanted others to feel that connection, too. Barbara encouraged people to wear a piece from their mother�??s collection�??something passed down or simply borrowed. Her idea quickly spread. It wasn�??t about the value of the item. It was about the meaning behind it.
In 2018, the day became part of Chase�??s Calendar of Events. That gave it a place among thousands of recognized holidays and observances.
