About the event
Carolyn D. Jenkins, a foot care advocate and children�??s book author, launched National I Love My Feet Day in 2015.
Her mission was simple: get people thinking about their feet in a more positive and caring way. Most people ignore their feet unless something goes wrong. Jenkins wanted to change that mindset.
She wrote a children�??s book called My Feet: An Ode, which inspired the creation of the day. The book aimed to teach kids that feet are strong, helpful, and worth taking care of. Through this new holiday, Jenkins hoped adults would also take notice and start treating their feet with more respect.
The day encourages people to check in with their foot health, care for their skin and nails, and wear proper shoes.
It also brings attention to how much feet do each day�??from walking and running to standing for long hours. Since its beginning, people across the country have joined in, using the day as a chance to slow down and give their feet some love.
