The Tour of Thekkady,
celebrated as India's premier Gran Fondo cycling event, returns in
2025, promising a thrilling combination of competitive races and serene
tours through Kerala's breathtaking landscapes. Beginning in the
picturesque backwaters of Kottayam,
the route winds its way through serene lakes, lush rubber and tea
plantations and aromatic cardamom estates before culminating in the
verdant expanse of Thekkady. With an elevation gain exceeding 3000
metres, the event replicates the challenge of the Tour de France stages,
offering participants an unparalleled cycling experience in the heart
of Kerala.
The event caters to a diverse group of cycling enthusiasts, featuring both a competitive race and a leisurely tour. The race category is divided into four distinct groups: the Team Race, where teams of four compete,?� ensuring that at least three riders of the same team finish the race together; the Men-Elite, open to cyclists above 18 years with an 8-hour cutoff time; the Men-Masters, designed for participants aged 40 and above with a 9-hour cutoff time; and the Women's Race, open to women above 18 years, also with a 9-hour cutoff time. For those seeking a less competitive experience, the Tour Category allows participants to complete the route in 14 hours, offering ample time to appreciate the scenic beauty and tranquillity along the way.
